Engravings
Engraving is a new practice
I engrave a zinc plate freehand, then ink the plate and press it onto special engraving paper, which I soak in water, drain, and place on the roller press.
Drying Process
Once the paper is printed, it dries for 24 hours. Only then can I add watercolour to highlight certain parts of the design.
Unique Prints
Each print is unique due to the variation in tones chosen. This step is repeated for each sheet. I present them with a bevelled black mount, which highlights the contrast between the ink and the slight ivory tint of the paper.
Each print is signed, dated, and numbered, with a maximum of 50 copies.
Engraving allows me to work in a different way, but it requires a great deal of time.
