Watercolours

Reproducing material effects, such as rust on a lock or a padlock, fascinates me. It’s truly the subject that determines the technique I use. I work based on a strong attraction to a detail, a part of the model that inspires me.

Botanical Watercolours

With watercolour, I explore a variety of themes, but I am particularly drawn to the plant world with its multitude of colours, often very vibrant yet delicate in form.

Sometimes, the details are captivating. I can be just as taken with figs as with the heart of a withered rose.

For me, the pigments and the countless blends I achieve with watercolour are always magical. I prefer 100% cotton paper for these subjects.

Textures and Methods

My eye is drawn to a padlock, an old lock screwed onto a time-worn door, an antique lantern—capturing the effects of rust fascinates me.

For these subjects, I like working on cellulose paper, and these paintings take quite a long time to complete.

I may also start with random stains, which then inspire me to see a rhinoceros, a French bulldog... In this process, I let go of precision in drawing, blending watercolour, ink, and pastel, without limiting myself in terms of mixing media.

Romanesque Churches...

In our village, there is a beautiful castle that I have painted several times, for both admirers of the site and lovers of Romanesque churches.

I can either work with classic colours or take a more original approach, creating a much more colourful and imaginative version.

I take my photos from a perspective that is not necessarily conventional, allowing me to paint more freely and give more character to my work.
